The solar eclipse makes its way across the continental United States on Monday, and though Baltimore is not in its path of totality, the city will see 80 percent of the sun blotted out by the moon’s shadow. Here are some area events where you can catch a (glasses-covered) glimpse of the celestial event!
Eclipse Viewing Party — MdBio Foundation’s Mobile eXploration Lab, parking lot at 9601 Medical Center Drive, Rockville. 1:27 p.m. to 3:01 p.m., free, mdbiofoundation.org. MdBio’s educators will instruct attendees on how to safely view an eclipse, explain what differentiates a solar and lunar eclipse and build an explanatory model. Participants also will collect and record temperature and climate data for NASA’s Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment Program. Special viewing glasses available for the first 100 people to register.
