Since 2015, Northrop Grumman has been supporting MdBio’s STEM education programs across the state, and most recently supported our efforts in bringing Learning Undefeated to Texas. We are thrilled to share that our partnership with Northrop Grumman is expanding in several new and exciting ways.
Starting in 2019, we will be bringing our mobile STEM education program to Northern Virginia for the first time! The Mobile eXploration Lab will visit Luther Jackson Middle School, where students will engage in lab activities such as the micropipette challenge, wildlife forensics, DNA extraction or the Mystery of the Crooked Cell.
Northrop Grumman is also helping us develop a new lab activity around cybersecurity, which we feel is very relevant and timely given the recent social media breaches on platforms such as Facebook and the prevalent issue of cyber bullying that schools are facing today. The activity will communicate the importance of cybersecurity to our personal, professional, and national/local security interests. Students will learn about the importance of their online profiles and passwords and how they can protect their profile against potential predators on various social media, web and digital platforms. And through hands-on, real-world scenarios, students will go through exercises that will help them understand and identify potential threats to their peers, family members, their school and the greater community.
We are excited to continue expanding on the impact being made across the region thanks to our partnership with Northrop Grumman!
