Education-focused Nonprofit Re-engages Students with Exciting 4-week STEM Program
BALTIMORE (July 8, 2021) — Learning Undefeated is launching Young Science Explorers Camp, a four-week summer camp beginning July 12 for Baltimore City Public Schools. The program brings an immersive science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning experience to re-engage and excite students for the fall 2021 school year.
This interactive program engages young learners with high-energy science demonstrations, immersive learning environments and hands-on investigations. Ideal for rising middle school students (sixth to eighth grades), students will engage with STEM topics in Learning Undefeated’s immersive mobile laboratory experiences, as well as complete hands-on laboratory investigations in the classroom.
Learning Undefeated’s disaster recovery education program emphasizes engaging, hands-on STEM learning experiences designed to help students re-engage with learning during a time when disaster-related stresses are incredibly real. Applying lessons learned from serving students impacted by natural disasters, this custom-built camp is designed to help students reconnect with school after a year dramatically upset by the COVID-19 pandemic. The two-week camp will run Monday through Thursday, with sessions from July 12 – 23 and July 26 – August 5. Each day, the camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., teaching 30 students each week. The camp is offered at no cost to Baltimore City public school students.
“This new partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools brings unique, immersive learning opportunities to students so that they can re-engage with STEM topics before heading back to school,” said Brian Gaines, CEO of Learning Undefeated. “Our deep experience in disaster recovery and education resiliency programs has shown that it’s especially important to help students refocus and energize them for the upcoming school year. This summer, students will have interactive, fun lessons while exploring science, math and technology in a way they haven’t experienced in class before.”
Campers are introduced to a different STEM topic each day – including chemical reactions, topography, critical thinking, forensics, and space exploration – then spend the day exploring concepts through games, experiments, and challenges. Learning Undefeated’s professional educators guide students every step of the way, using both large and small group settings that allow for detailed, individualized instruction and peer-to-peer interaction.
