Never ones to let the edge of what’s physically possible limit STEM education, MdBio’s education team has been working with teachers and students to develop a virtual reality earth and space science activity for the classroom. Virtual reality represents the newest immersive learning experience for MdBio, who has several other game-based learning experiences for mobile labs and classrooms.
Centered around space exploration, the activity uses Samsung Gear VR headsets to transport students into the cockpit of a spaceship and allows them to test landing and driving a Mars lander. The activity has been piloted in the classroom in Refugio, Texas and at several events this spring.
MdBio is currently seeking funding to purchase virtual reality equipment for the Mobile eXploration Lab, to begin use for the 2018/19 school year. This is an excellent partnership opportunity for a forward-thinking organization to be on the forefront of technology education.
