More than 100 high school students network with potential employers
On November 9, MdBio hosted our 10th ATLAS College & Career Symposium at Montgomery College in Germantown, Maryland. More than 100 high school students from four local schools came to experience hands-on activities and engage with more than a dozen Maryland companies about internships and jobs in STEM.
“If I can leave you with one piece of advice, offered ATLAS keynote speaker Dr. JoAnn Suzich vice president of research at Gaithersburg-based MedImmune “it is, don’t set your sights too low. Really, shoot for the stars. You never know what you are capable of.” This ATLAS event was made possible by the generous sponsorships from AstraZeneca/MedImmune, AT&T, Montgomery College, NASA, Pure Technologies, and Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
“If we are to continue to solve the toughest health challenges of tomorrow, we need to cultivate the talent today,” said Dr. Suzich. “I can say with authority that employers will be waiting, but more importantly, patients are waiting.”
